Exceed any one of these in Wyoming and the load needs a permit. Wyoming sets no overall length cap on a tractor-semitrailer combination — the 60' semitrailer limit below is the length trigger, and it is measured as the total longitudinal dimension including any load, so a projection at either end counts inside it. Wyoming publishes no separate overhang cap, but both ends are still capped — the 60' figure above is measured with the load on it, front and rear, so each overhang spends the same remainder and each eats into the other. On a 53' trailer that is 7' to divide between the two ends: 7' at the rear leaves nothing at the front, and 4' at the rear leaves 3'. Marking rules still apply.

You need a permit in Wyoming once the load exceeds any one of these: 8'6" wide, 14'0" high, or 80,000 lb gross. There is no overall length cap on a normal tractor-semitrailer — the trailer itself is capped at 60' instead, measured with any overhang at either end inside it. Axle limits apply too — 20,000 lb on a single axle and 36,000 lb on a tandem.
When does Wyoming require an escort?
